The Chalet Experience - Les Gets

Phil Teare of The Chalet Experience talks to SkiingWithChildren.co.uk about why Les Gets is worth considering for Family Ski Holidays.

"Before we started The Chalet Experience I was working as a Ski Resort Childcare Manager. We were looking to set up a company providing Skiing Holidays and I was keen to find somewhere that would work well for the family skiing market.

I had a few things on my list.

*Short Transfer times 
*A resort focused on family holidays 
*Easy walking around the village 
*Good ski schools and a range of ski schools to  pick from 
*Ski area that's good for children to learn on 
*Not a "party resort" that'll keep families away!

The search was on for the ideal ski holiday resort! I'd already worked and skied in many resorts so I had a bit of an idea, then spent a few weeks travelling all over the Alps. Les Gets seemed to stick out on its own for the Family Skiing market. It hit all my targets easily, but it was the resort's focus on families that really stood out.

Les Gets has won various accolades for their facilities for children's ski holidays, but in all honesty they didn't mean to much to me. The thing that sold the resort to me was the effort that has gone in to providing a holiday environment for children, it is evident all over the resort. They have even made an area of the mountain with ski runs and 2 lifts that's for children only! I learnt to ski back in the days when young guys used to straight line the same slopes as I was trying to master the snowplough on, so that really stood out to me.

The range of ski schools is excellent, and because the resort attracted so many families they are all well experienced to teach children's skiing. We have 6 main ski schools based in Les Gets plus a few other ones from neighbouring resorts that come over to teach as well.

We now have three catered ski chalets in Les Gets and there's no looking back. With hindsight I'm very happy that we made the right choice in Les Gets for the families we attract. Me personally? Well we've the largest ski area in Europe right here so '?ll still be happy for many years to come!"
